According to SANDPIPER's AODD technology overview, AODD pumps are particularly suited to demanding fluid-handling applications because they can operate without electricity, run dry, self-prime, handle solids-laden fluids and operate in submerged conditions.
How Does an AODD Pump Work?
The operating cycle is straightforward:
- Compressed air enters one air chamber.
- Air pressure pushes the diaphragm and moves the connected diaphragm on the opposite side.
- One chamber performs the discharge stroke, while the other performs the suction stroke.
- Check valves control the direction of fluid movement.
- The air valve then shifts, reversing the diaphragm movement.
- This alternating cycle continuously transfers fluid.
Simple principle
Compressed Air → Diaphragm Movement → Suction + Discharge → Fluid Transfer
